Massive Rose Rose Shop & Tester Korea Asian Beauty Haul!

Last month, both Rose Rose Shop and Tester Korea had some decent sales – and TK in particular had the coveted SU:M37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick in stock for only $3 markup over retail – so I ended up splurging big time. The boxes arrived within two days of each other, so the end result was a gigantic Asian beauty haul! Between this and my upcoming Memeboxes, I’m pretty much set with buying new skincare stuff for awhile, I think. I also included a lot of sample packs in both orders so that I could try a bunch of new items without breaking the bank (or risking a bunch of dud products), so I’ll have a lot to review in the upcoming months even if I manage to stick to my skincare no-buy plans for the rest of the year!

A few things are missing (like my OST Vitamin C serum, as I’d already opened it and forgot to pull it out of the fridge for pictures) or my Skinfood Trouble Clear Spot Patches as I’d already used up half the box by the time I decided to do this haul post. But you can still see that this was a big batch of beauty! I’m very excited as I managed to get some items that I’d really been ogling for months for really nice prices.

Let’s take a look at all the goodies after the cut!

My End-of-Summer Bath & Body Works Haul & Thoughts

So last week, Musings of a Muse posted a coupon code that gave free shipping and a ‘Pumpkin Pail’ with almost $80 worth of various pumpkin-themed goodies for $25. Now, just like the rest of the internet, I adore pumpkin anything, so when I saw that they were ALSO having a 50% off all their summer candles and a buy 3small  items for $10 promo…? When you add that to the cash back from eBates, of course I had to jump on the opportunity and do a little hauling.

I mean, how freaking cute is the pumpkin-shaped loofah? And look at all the goodies in the Pumpkin Pail! Totally irresistible. Don’t worry if you can’t see inside the pail so well – I’ll be unpacking it and giving you a better look at everything after the jump.

I actually live in the city where Bath & Body Works is headquartered, so I’ve pretty much grown up with the brand – I remember when Iced Pineapple, Country Apple, and Sun-Kissed Raspberry were basically all you could smell at school, haha. I’ve since aged out of a lot of their scents – too many are too cloying and too sweet which translates as ‘too young’ for me – but I still looove their candles and their body lotion formula, so I do duck in to one of the 10 billion storefronts they have in Columbus every so often to figure out which of their current scents I can handle and wear without feeling like I’m doing tween cosplay.

This time around, however, almost all the scents that I bought were new to me and – since this was an online order – beyond Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, I really had no clue if they would be as good as they sounded. I justified it because the coupon code and online sales were so good, plus the fact that I’d pretty much only need to drive 5 minutes in any direction to do a return. Seriously, you guys, we have sooooooooo many B&BW here – some shopping centers even have as many as THREE of their storefronts. We are crazy.

This Bath & Body Works haul includes the aforementioned pumpkin set, a bunch of candles, some body lotions, and multiple body sprays/fragrances. Click the read more for photos and my initial thoughts of every scent!

Read More & eBay Haul: More Asian Beauty Products (Featuring Photos, Descriptions & Mini Reviews)!

Apparently the mail service tapped into the speed force this month, because most of my overseas purchases from the last week of July have somehow arrived already! Usually it takes about 3-4 weeks for me to receive packages from Asia. Well, I’m not complaining! It’s been great fun having so much mail these past few weeks between my Etsy buys and now these all these earlier-than-expected packages~

Sasa August 2014 Haul

So this haul is from various eBay sellers and, a well known place to buy Asian products online. As you can see, I got a decent range of Asian beauty products this time around – sunscreen, sheet masks, lipsticks, BB cream, etc.

Want specifics and some serious TL;DR about my product choices? Like you had to ask! Just click the read more~

Sephora Haul: Happy Birthday to Me Edition!

So, my birthday is at the beginning of August, meaning that about a week or two ago I received my card from Sephora’s VIB program telling me that it was time to redeem my special birthday gift. Since I had already been plotting an order – both to restock some essentials as well as to splurge and get myself a few presents – they didn’t have to tell me twice!

Sephora Haul

Mostly skincare items as per usual, but my two birthday treats were a cosmetics kit and a perfume. I’d been eyeing both for years, but for some reason it’s a lot harder for me to justify makeup and fragrance purchases than skincare, so I’d put them off over and over.

Sephora Samples

Between active codes, my rewards points, and my VIB birthday gift, I was able to net a ton of samples & GWP items as well. The sheet mask wasn’t a freebie, but it wouldn’t fit in the photo with the full-sized items.

Sephora Haul Unboxed

Here’s the main attractions looking all pretty unboxed. I gotta say, I personally love Dr. Jart’s packaging for the Water line. That color is one of my favorites and everything manages to look high-end without actually being in fragile glass bottles or anything!

I’ll go over everything individually for the curious, so hit the read more if you’d like to see the specifics!

Holika Holika & Etude House Korean Cosmetics Haul – July 2014 Edition!

In my last Korean beauty haul post, I mentioned that what I had there was only a small part of my big June Korean beauty splurge – but since I bought from like 5-6 different eBayers, the items are turning up in chunks.

This week I received two more boxes from my June spending spree, and I thought I’d share my selections with you guys again!

Another "mini" Korean cosmetics haul!

As you can see, this time around it’s a Holika Holika & Etude House centered Korean cosmetics haul. I have to admit to really loving Holika Holika’s whole aesthetic, the cute/witchy thing is just maximum adorable to me! Etude House also has a great theme, and both brands tend to usually satisfy/impress me with their products. I need to expand into other brands, I know, but I’m already developing some serious loyalty to these two companies!

Haul Unboxed!

Here’s everything unboxed so you can get a better look at the actual product packaging.

Bite-Sized Debaucherous Bath & Body Review + Photos!

Last month I ordered some goodies from Debaucherous Bath & Body (their Etsy store is here if you prefer shopping that way) and my items arrived yesterday, so I thought I’d snap some quick photos to show ’em off.

My order was primarily for body scrubs, since I’d finally used up to last of my (sadly discontinued along with the rest of the flawless Spa Japan line, QQ) Adzuki Bean & Rice Washing Grains from The Body Shop and needed to find a new scrub to love. Debaucherous has some really interesting-sounding scents, and the inclusion of rice bran and sunflower oils + shea butter really appealed to me. While I can’t use shea butter in face products because it clogs me, I do love it on my body & lips! Rice bran and sunflower oils are also some of my favorites for body products – they tend to absorb easily for me and leave my skin sooo soft. I think the only oil I like better is sesame! I’m also fond of sugar scrubs as they tend to dissolve easily (be kind to your drains, people!) and don’t burn like salt scrubs if I want to use them after shaving my legs/bikini area. So, with all those points in mind, I decided to give DB&B’s “Bubbling Scrub” a shot.

I purchased one full-size scrub in the scent that most interested me, Mad Hatter Tea Cakes. From the product’s listing, the scent description is as follows:

Russian tea cakes served with freshly brewed earl grey tea spiked with aged rum, marshmallows and sugar cookies.

I’m a big fan of Earl Grey tea, and the sugary cookie/rum notes sounded like a fun addition. I haven’t actually used the scrub yet, so I’m not going to give a proper review just yet – however, for the curious, here’s a zoom-in of the scrub’s texture:

I also purchased a sample size of the bubbling scrub in a different scent, Lucy Chiffon. It’s pictured here with the freebie perfume sample that the owner threw in with my order!

Lucy Chiffon: Tart Lemons, Raw Sugar Cane, White Cake with a Gardenia flavored cream filling.

Caterpillars Smoking Pipe: Sweet tobacco, black amber, damask rose, vanilla deadwood, petals of dying gardenias and olibanum.

The Lucy Chiffon scent sounded really pleasant – I love how Gardenia can give a really pleasant floral creaminess to fragrance blends, and lemon/sugar cane is one of my favorite combinations ever (think Fresh’s Sugar and Sugar Lemon lines – I looove those). Once again, I haven’t actually tried this so I can’t give a review of how it actually smells in-shower.

As for the perfume sample – I’m generally not a fan of tobacco/pipe smells; chalk it up to the fact that actual tobacco smoke from cigars & cigarettes gives me sinus infections & also acts as a major migraine trigger for me. Too many bad connotations for me to ever enjoy the smell, unfortunately. So while I expect the owner picked it as my sample because of the gardenia and vanilla notes were present in a lot of my other scent picks, in the end I really wasn’t excited by this scent selection. I took a whiff anyhow – thankfully, the amber and floral notes seem to be the standouts here. I don’t think I’ll be trying it, though, just in case my skin chemistry amps up the tobacco note. I’ll probably pass this sample on to a friend who doesn’t have my allergies & issues, but please don’t take that as a judgement of the fragrance itself. I appreciate the effort she made to give me a scent that contains some of the notes that I picked in other blends, though!

Lastly, I bought a couple lip balms, because I go through lip balm at the speed of light so I’m always looking for new favorites in this category!

I bought two flavors:

Green Mango: Green mangoes from the Philippines blended with lime margarita.

Orxata: Also known as horchata; Ground rice, milk, sugar and cinnamon.

Her lip balms contain a really alluring mix of moisturizing ingredients: coconut, sweet almond, and avocado oils, shea and cocoa butters, vitamin e, and candelila and carnauba waxes. The end result is that they melt very easily into your lips (you can see in the photo how much the freshly opened balm had melted just from being at room temperature – around 78 degreens fahrenheit – in my house) and do seem to hydrate very well. I’ll want to use these for a couple weeks before I do an actual review, though, since I’ve had some balms start out nicely and then give me irritation after a week or so of constant use (hi, Eos and LUSH lip balms!).

I can say, though, that they feel great on, don’t need constant reapplication, and the scents are lovely without being overpowering. Expect a proper review later once I’ve made sure that I don’t have any negative reactions. The Orxata in particular would be really great during the cooler months as it really smells fall/wintery to me. Green Mango is a great fruity scent that isn’t sickeningly sweet, which is exactly what I was hoping!

I’m really excited to try the scrubs! Expect full reviews of all the products in a few weeks, once I’ve had time to use everything for awhile, but until then I hope you liked my mini Debaucherous Bath & Body review, haha! I suppose “first thoughts” would be more appropriate?

Have you tried anything from Debaucherous Bath & Body before? What did you think?

Small Korean Beauty Haul (Featuring Holika Holika, Etude House and Tony Moly)

I’ve alluded to it before, but last month I went a little nuts and bought a TON of Korean cosmetics/skincare. A few of those products turned up today, so I decided to see how my Kindle Fire’s camera handled taking some haul photos. The verdict? Um… passable, I guess, but it was a pain and I definitely need more practice with setting up shots so I can avoid that obnoxious glare! I think that’s my biggest hurdle when taking these photos. Well, that and the fact that the Kindle doesn’t have any sort of preview display that I can see when I’m taking photos of anything other than myself, haha.

    Small Haul - Wide Shot

I used the June GLOSSYBOX‘s packaging as a backdrop – just to be patriotic since it’s July, and also because that box was so pretty! I’m not sure if the colors/pattern helped or hindered my glare issues, though…

Anyhow, on to the goodies! Click the read more to expand and see my mini Korean beauty haul, crappy photos and all~
