G9Skin Pink Blur Hydrogel Eye Patch Review

I’ve always had genetically dark circles – it comes from being a medium-olive woman with a few ethnic groups in my ancestry that are notably prone to dark circles – but in the past few years, the problem has become much more noticeable. I have a few theories about why this is, which I’ll discuss more in-depth under the cut, but today I am going to talk about the one topical product that, while not a complete miracle worker and not a total solution, has definitely provided much more noticeable improvement to my dark circles compared to ANY other product I’ve tried thus far. The billion and one eye creams that I’ve tried wish they were as effective and worthwhile (and so does my past wallet, frankly – I feel like eye creams always have their price so inflated compared to other skincare products).

Everybody, meet the Pink Blur Hydrogel Eye Patches by G9Skin. Our relationship is getting pretty serious, and I think we may be in love!

Now, I have to admit that these are the first consistent-use hydrogel eye patches that I’ve tried. To clarify what I mean by that, I’ve used undereye sheet masks  and hydrogel eye area sheet masks, but they are more of an “every so often, before a special date” kind of deal due to their pricing.

Not so with the Pink Blur Hydrogel Eye Patches. These are meant to be used daily, and they’re cheap and easy enough that I often use them day and night. I definitely see the best improvement from 2x daily usage, but even using them once a day in the morning (usually I slap them on while I’m doing something else like putting on body lotion or making coffee or even taking the dog out because my neighbours are all lovely and I know they won’t judge me for having vaguely shimmery undereyes when we’re all just half-awake and picking up dog poop) makes a difference.

Sephora Haul: Happy Birthday to Me Edition!

So, my birthday is at the beginning of August, meaning that about a week or two ago I received my card from Sephora’s VIB program telling me that it was time to redeem my special birthday gift. Since I had already been plotting an order – both to restock some essentials as well as to splurge and get myself a few presents – they didn’t have to tell me twice!

Sephora Haul

Mostly skincare items as per usual, but my two birthday treats were a cosmetics kit and a perfume. I’d been eyeing both for years, but for some reason it’s a lot harder for me to justify makeup and fragrance purchases than skincare, so I’d put them off over and over.

Sephora Samples

Between active codes, my rewards points, and my VIB birthday gift, I was able to net a ton of samples & GWP items as well. The sheet mask wasn’t a freebie, but it wouldn’t fit in the photo with the full-sized items.

Sephora Haul Unboxed

Here’s the main attractions looking all pretty unboxed. I gotta say, I personally love Dr. Jart’s packaging for the Water line. That color is one of my favorites and everything manages to look high-end without actually being in fragile glass bottles or anything!

I’ll go over everything individually for the curious, so hit the read more if you’d like to see the specifics!

RéVive Intensité Volumizing Eye Serum Review

I’ve been a GLOSSYBOX member for about a year now (blame Jennifer for all her awesome sub box reviews), which means I’ve gotten to try out a lot of awesome products for very cheap.

Just yesterday I used up the very last drop of my RéVive Intensité Volumizing Eye Serum, which is a massively expensive eye serum featured in the Bergdorf’s-curated May 2014 Glossybox. The product promises, by way of some “bio-engineering, RES technology, cellular filling complex” mumbo-jumbo to:

– Visibly plumps and helps rebuild, re-contour and re-establish volume around the delicate eye area. Fills in visible deep under-eye “hollows” by plumping and smoothing skin.
– Significantly diminishes the look of dark circles, under eye-bags and crepiness.
– Helps regenerate the look of youthful skin and improve visible signs of aging by aiding in skin cell turnover.

RéVive Intensité Volumizing Eye Serum

It retails for an absolutely astounding $350 per .5 fl oz and comes in an understated opaque silver plastic pump-style tube. When I calculated that I was holding ~seventy dollars worth of product in my hand, I knew that I was going to start using said eye serum IMMEDIATELY and see if this super-expensive serum was the key to finally nuking my dark puffies. I’m one of those people who doesn’t quite wear their heart on their sleeve – rather, I wear my current status all over my skin. If I’m tired, sick, upset, headachey, sore – whatever, my skin will betray me and let everyone know. Puffy eyes, dark circles, sallow tones, dullness, breakouts – there’s a very real connection between how I feel and how my skin looks on any given day.

This spring and summer have featured a ton of headache-inducing fronts and storms for me, and it’s been showing under my eyes – I’m waking up with dark circles and puffiness far more than usual. You can imagine my excitement when this product showed up, right?

So… did it work? At all? Hit the jump to find out!
