Sephora Favorites Skin Super Foods Kit Review & Unboxing

ETA: Okay, wow. This post was meant to go up back in late July, but unfortunately my motherboard died and the repairs to the PC ended up taking almost the full month of August. So this review is slightly outdated as the Sephora Favorites Skin Super Foods Kit is no longer available, but I’m going to post it anyway just in case they bring it back (which, frankly, they should – this was a bomb kit and easily the best Sephora Favorites box to date in my opinion)!

I was lucky enough to grab the Sephora Favorites Skin Super Foods Kit before it went out of stock, and I thought I’d post my unboxing and initial thoughts just in case anyone’s out there considering going to a brick & mortar Sephora to try and get their hands on one. Given how quickly this kit sold out, though, I would be pretty shocked if Sephora didn’t restock – seems like it’s leaving money on the table if they don’t, you know?

Since the link may or may not be dead depending on current stock levels, here is what you get in this kit:

1 oz / 30 g Boscia Luminizing Black Mask
.32 oz / 9 g Farmacy Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask
2 oz / 60 g Herbivore Botanicals Coco Rose Body Polish
.15 fl oz / 5 mL Josie Maran Cosmetics Whipped Argan Oil Face Butter
2.5 fl oz / 75 mL Kopari Beauty Coconut Melt
.23 fl oz / 7 mL Tarte Maracuja Oil
.5 fl oz / 15 mL Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser
.4 fl oz / 12 mL Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist
.5 fl oz / 15 mL Youth to the People Age Prevention Superfood Mask

…all packaged up quite prettily in a very on-trend faux rose-gold-and-marble box.

Read on for my individual thoughts on each item!

Skin79 Strawberry Girl Sheet Mask Review

The past few days have been very cold – in the single digits with “feels like” sitting around zero fahrenheit thanks to wind chill. This means that the heat has been cranked up everywhere, and in turn, my skin is starting to feel pretty dry. I woke up this morning with the definite realization that as much as I love the finish my Vicco Turmeric Cream gives, even layered over my craploads of hydrating essences and serums, it is definitely not hydrating enough for the absolute dead of winter.

I’m going to be going through my moisturizer backlog and see what looks promising next (I’m very close to being finished with this Vicco tube anyhow), but as a stopgap emergency measure, I decided my resolution for the next week-ish would be to use a hydrating sheet mask every other morning. Ideally, I’ll also review them each for you here, assuming my laziness doesn’t get the better of me… ?

Yesterday morning, I tried out the Skin79 Strawberry Girl Fruit Mask!

Korea’s Most Wanted Memebox Review & Unboxing

Today we have another old-ish Memebox unboxing post. This is my Korea’s Most Wanted Memebox review… this box shipped out at the end of August, but I didn’t get it until mid-September… and for some reason this post has been sitting in my drafts, about 3/4 finished, for well over a month! I seriously have no clue what’s up with me, but it’s time to get cracking on this Memebox review backlog, huh?

It’s not even like it wasn’t an exciting box, either – I actually really liked all the products and I’ve been frequently some of them – one item was even the target of attempted theft by my mother because it’s so nifty, haha. But I’m getting ahead of myself a bit, so let’s get back to the basic premise of this box.

It’s a sister act!

Did you know that Memebox Global has an older sister named Memebox Korea?

Both sisters were both born in Seoul, yes, but after Memebox Global’s move to San Francisco, and a long time of separation, the sisters are finally doing something fun! This time, it’s a sister act!

Memebox Global and Memebox Korea are teaming up to bring you Korea’s Most Wanted Box, the best of the best in K-Beauty!

Also a global hub for K-beauty-holics and makeup addicts, Memebox Korea carries only the hottest and most up-to-date Korean trends, and she’s giving us everything from hair and body products to makeup and skin care products so that you can get a taste of real Korean beauty! This box retails at over $100, but you can get yours for only $32!

Who can resist that, right? The hottest beauty trends AND bang for your buck? This was one of the first Memeboxes that I ordered, actually, as it just sounded like such a good introduction to Memebox in general. Honestly, I wasn’t disappointed, and I hope that they do more iterations of this concept in the future!

intro

This box includes a nice mix of items – you’ve got skincare, makeup, nail polish, and even an interesting kind of… utility product, I guess, would be the best way to define it?

If you just want a quick-and-basic idea of what was in the box, here is the front and back of the included information card:

Skinfood Steam Milk Bubble Mask Review

When I posted this Galactus-size haul, the product that everyone seemed to be most interested in a review for was this baby, the Skinfood Steam Milk Bubble Mask. I suspect a lot of that attention was because, at least for us non-Korean-speakers, it’s a slightly confusing product. Is it a mask? If so, then why does the product description on the Skinfood site call it a cleanser? Yet Urban Outfitters’ website calls it a mask (no, I’m not linking to them, because, to put it as politely as possible: fuck Urban Outfitters for a myriad of reasons)… is it a cleanser that can double as a wash-off mask?

steam milk

After testing this product both ways for a little over a month, my verdict is: it’s both. Or at least, it seems to perform quite sufficiently for both roles! I think that I personally like using this product as a wash-off mask a little more than I like it as a cleanser, but I’m probably getting ahead of myself a bit by saying that now. I’ll go over how it works both as a cleanser and a mask, and you can be the judge over which way you think it’s meant to be used!

Tony Moly Latte Art Milk-Cacao Pore Pack Review

If you know me at all, you know that I love coffee. I usually drink one or two pots a day, and while I favor darker roasts, I’m not cool enough to drink it black – I like to dress up my lattes with flavored syrups, whipped cream, and sprinkles, both for the taste and also because it ends up looking really cute!

So it’s probably no surprise at all that, when I first discovered that Tony Moly’s Latte Art line was a thing, I immediately decided to try at least SOME of the products. After all, they’re not only based on delicious cafe beverages, some of them are even packaged to look like hot drinks!

Thus far I’ve had the pleasure of trying two products from Tony Moly’s Latte Art line: the Milk Tea primer (which I looove and will write a review about soon) and this Milk-Cacao Pore Pack. I really enjoy both products to the point that I’ve been recommending them to people online, but recently I was telling some people on Reddit about how cute and effective the mask is in particular. I honestly think that this mask is a perfect gift idea for anyone who likes cute cosmetics and coffee, so I figured that I should make a review of it to help anyone who was interested in snagging this item during their holiday shopping – whether it’s as a gift or just for yourself!

tony moly latte art milk-cacao pore pack

See, how cute is that?! It’s in the shape of a tiny mug of coffee and cream. The dark, “coffee” color is the deep-cleaning part, and the milky cream color is the moisturizing component. You’re meant to mix them together in whatever ration that you like – as you can see, I’ve mixed about a third of this container so far.

This might sound a little fussy, but it’s actually very easy because the little “stirring spoon” that you see sitting on top of the mug is actually your spatula slash mixing spoon!

spatula

As you see here, the lid has a little groove where your spatula can click into place, so it’s very easy to store. I’ve dropped and knocked over my mug and the spatula stayed in place, so it’s a relief for klutz-o-trons like myself! It’s for this reason and the sheer cuteness factor that I’m willing to give this product a pass about the jar packaging. Since the product rinses off so easily (more on that later), washing off the spatula when you’re done is a snap, and you don’t have to worry about storage… for jar packaging, this is about as good as it’s gonna get, I think.

Superbox #56 Yogurt Cosmetics Memebox Review & Unboxing

Let’s cut to the chase: yes, it’s another food-themed Memebox. I know, I have a problem!

But yogurt in cosmetics is really not unusual or new, it’s generally associated with being soothing and hydrating – which makes it a prime ingredient for winter skincare products. Many people, myself included, suffer from dryness and irritation due to winter weather, so I was able to justify buying the Superbox #56 Yogurt Cosmetics pretty easily.

first look

Here’s the official summary of this Memebox:

Yogurt is a yummy and wholesome snack, but when applied topically, you’ll see that this creamy wonder food  also has a multitude of beauty benefits!

Yogurt used as part of a beauty regimen dates back to ancient Egypt, when Cleopatra used it as a part of her daily beauty routine to maintain her youth. It contains lactic acid to dissolve dead skin cells that accumulate into the pores! Also, proteins, calcium, and vitamins prevent premature aging, brighten skin, and give the skin a naturally youthful glow!

Unlock this ancient beauty secret for your best self ever!

Whoever writes the sales copy for Memeboxes is damn good at their job, because I always end up thinking “well, that sounds like something that could definitely benefit my skin!” after almost every new box gets released. I mean, who doesn’t want youthful, glowing skin, right?

all out

So, just at a glance, we’ve got three different types of face mask, a cleanser, a moisturizer, and a lip balm set. I’m always happiest when my boxes are more skincare oriented – unless of course it’s a specifically makeup/haircare/whatever-themed box – so I’m pleased with this lineup.

Let’s get down to the unboxing – click the read more to see the individual products and my thoughts on each!

Holika Holika Rosy Peach Tea Cafe Mask Sheet Review

I seem to have a bad habit of buying and reviewing masks right as they’re discontinued, and this is no different – Holika Holika discontinued the Sweet Tea Cafe line of their sheet masks some time ago. However, since the masks are still relatively easy to get ahold of online since a lot of retailers stocked up, I figure a review could still be useful to some people, right?

I bought the Rosy Peach “flavor” from the Sweet Tea Cafe line. I really wanted the Milk Tea variety, but that’s sold out everywhere as far as I can tell – most retailers seem to have all the other kinds for now, though.

“Rosy Peach” is meant to help clarify acne-prone skin while adding moisture and aiding circulation. You can see the details of each sheet mask variety in this graphic from Holika Holika’s official website:
