Amazon Prime New Year New You Sample Box Review

So, if you hang out on any deal sites, you may have noticed that Amazon has been producing a bunch of sample boxes exclusively for Amazon Prime members lately – basically, you pay $X amount to have a box full of samples shipped to you, and if you buy the full-size of any of the items promoted by said box, you’ll get the original $X cost applied as a credit to that purchase.

As of this writing, there are several options:

  • New Year, New You Sample Box – Stick to your resolutions with our top-rated vitamins, supplements and sports nutrition products. Costs $14.99, with a $14.99 credit when you purchase a promoted item afterwards.
  • Beauty Sample Box – Try samples in skin care, hair care, oral care, and more. $11.99 cost, with equal credit.
  • Men’s Grooming Sample Box – In this box you’ll find men’s grooming essentials to keep you looking sharp. $9.99 cost/credit.
  • Crest 3D White 1 Hour Express Whitestrip Sample Kit – A small kit featuring Crest 3D White toothpaste, whitestrip, and some dental floss. $4.99 cost/credit.
  • Mr. Olympia Sample Box – Fuel workouts and discover your new favorite sports nutrition products with our Mr. Olympia Sample Box. In this box you will find several assorted samples from the selection of products below. $9.99 cost/credit.
  • Luxury Beauty Box – Contains 20 samples from La Roche-Posay, Jane Iredale, Proraso, and many more Luxury Beauty brands. $19.99 cost/credit.

As I’ve been trying to be better about my health lately, I decided to go for the New Year New You Sample Box – it appeared to have a nice mix of protein powders, protein bars, vitamins, beauty supplements, and probiotics, so I was fairly certain that I’d find something I liked enough to use the $14.99 credit. And even if I didn’t, when I peeked at the possible items that you can apply your credit towards, I saw my current love-of-my-life health item (the Vega post-workout powder, which actually works for me and has been a godsend since I tend towards 2-3 days of DOMS after a good workout and that was making it super, super difficult to progress on a daily challenge type of plan like PIIT28) as one of the possible credit items, so… I was sold!

For my thoughts on the individual items that I received as well as my overall impression of the New Year New You Box, please hit the read more!

Try The World Brazil Box Review

Okay, I am megas late writing this review… like, the Try the World Brazil Box came out during the Rio Olympics, and it is now… September. I kept thinking that I should wait until I’d gotten a chance to try more of the box’s goodies, but I’ve been slacking on that end, too! Truly, I have no valid excuses for how late my Try The World Brazil Box review is… oops?

Try the World Brazil Box

Here, I’ll make it up to everyone by peppering this review with badass Anitta music videos. If you’re not familiar, she’s a Brazilian pop star, and I’ve been totally hooked on her since first hearing Bang at the end of 2015.

So now that you’ve got a Brazilian bop playing to get you in the right mood, let’s get started! As always, if you’re reading this on the main page, please click the read more now to see my full Try The World Brazil Box unboxing ❤

Try The World Review: Sweden Box

So Try the World is a subscription box that I’ve had my eye on for quite some time. If you’re not familiar, each month, they have chefs curate a selection of 7-8 food items from a specific country of origin – for example, the Sweden Box that I’ll be reviewing here. The items are frequently artisan or smaller companies, so they’re not shipping you a bunch of snacks from Tesco and calling it the “England Box” or anything, don’t worry!

Try the World Sweden Box

The reason that I held off for so long was twofold: one, I already had a snack box subscription – the fantastic, charity-oriented Love With Food – and two, at $39 per month, it seemed just a touch steep for what you get. If you have a ton of disposable income, sure, that’s a drop in the bucket and a thoughtfully-produced exotic food sub box like Try the World would be a no-brainer (for me, at least!) – but I’m not wealthy, and my expendable income is tempted by myriad things every month. So it’s a hard choice to commit to something like this, at least currently, you know? That’s $40 less of K-Beauty or Etsy bath & body stuff…

Last month, however, Try the World started offering a free box with new subscriptions (they still are, if you use a referral link like this shiny one right here): in this specific case, your sub would get you the Sweden Box delivered alongside a freebie Thailand Box. I poked around and read unboxings for both Sweden and Thailand, and both of them sounded really, really appealing, so I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger. Full disclosure: I totally helped justify it to myself by saying that I could blog about both boxes here, so please forgive the copious amounts of referral link in this post. Just being honest about how my mind works! ?

In particular, the Sweden Box really called to me, so it will be the first Try the World review that I publish. If you’re on the main page, please click the read more now!

Korea’s Most Wanted Memebox Review & Unboxing

Today we have another old-ish Memebox unboxing post. This is my Korea’s Most Wanted Memebox review… this box shipped out at the end of August, but I didn’t get it until mid-September… and for some reason this post has been sitting in my drafts, about 3/4 finished, for well over a month! I seriously have no clue what’s up with me, but it’s time to get cracking on this Memebox review backlog, huh?

It’s not even like it wasn’t an exciting box, either – I actually really liked all the products and I’ve been frequently some of them – one item was even the target of attempted theft by my mother because it’s so nifty, haha. But I’m getting ahead of myself a bit, so let’s get back to the basic premise of this box.

It’s a sister act!

Did you know that Memebox Global has an older sister named Memebox Korea?

Both sisters were both born in Seoul, yes, but after Memebox Global’s move to San Francisco, and a long time of separation, the sisters are finally doing something fun! This time, it’s a sister act!

Memebox Global and Memebox Korea are teaming up to bring you Korea’s Most Wanted Box, the best of the best in K-Beauty!

Also a global hub for K-beauty-holics and makeup addicts, Memebox Korea carries only the hottest and most up-to-date Korean trends, and she’s giving us everything from hair and body products to makeup and skin care products so that you can get a taste of real Korean beauty! This box retails at over $100, but you can get yours for only $32!

Who can resist that, right? The hottest beauty trends AND bang for your buck? This was one of the first Memeboxes that I ordered, actually, as it just sounded like such a good introduction to Memebox in general. Honestly, I wasn’t disappointed, and I hope that they do more iterations of this concept in the future!

intro

This box includes a nice mix of items – you’ve got skincare, makeup, nail polish, and even an interesting kind of… utility product, I guess, would be the best way to define it?

If you just want a quick-and-basic idea of what was in the box, here is the front and back of the included information card:

Superbox #54 Pinkaholic Memebox Review & Unboxing

I know, I know. I’m really behind on my Memebox review posts, largely because I just haven’t had the drive for beauty blogging lately. On the bright side, this means that I’ve actually had a chance to use a couple of these products for a month-ish already, so full reviews will be incoming & I can give a better overview of them in this post.

Today’s unboxing will by the Superbox # 54 Pinkaholic Memebox review. Here’s the premise of the box, according to Memebox’s site:

Life is so much better in shades of pink!

Pink cotton candy clouds, baby pink lips, happy pink balloons, little presents with big pink bows, bubbly pink champagnes, sweet pink peas… at Memebox we’re so obsessed with all things pink!

If you’re a fellow pinkholic, this is the box for you! Filled with every shade of pink that you can possibly imagine, and all lovely pink-y things, this box is an explosion of pretty, pink beauty things that will surely satisfy all you pink manias!

I’ve always loved pink (when I was little, I often told people that my favorite color was “cotton pink” which apparently confused my mother to no end – but I meant, like, cotton candy, you know?) and obviously, if you’ve been reading my blog here, you know that I love cute packaging. So I was instantly sold on this particular superbox as soon as I saw the listing!

first look

Here’s the first look. The hot pink Memebox packaging really suits this box, you know? If you’ve never received a Memebox before, they come shipped in BRIGHT PINK bubble mailers and then a hot pink box within the mailer. I love it!

pinkaholic memebox

…And here’s everything laid out and unboxed. It really is a whole lotta pink products, eh? I personally think they did a really good job and selecting products that were PINK PINK PINK yet still very functional and useful.

Let’s get down to the blow-by-blows for each product. As always, if you’re viewing this from the main page, please click the read more to see the entire post!

Superbox #56 Yogurt Cosmetics Memebox Review & Unboxing

Let’s cut to the chase: yes, it’s another food-themed Memebox. I know, I have a problem!

But yogurt in cosmetics is really not unusual or new, it’s generally associated with being soothing and hydrating – which makes it a prime ingredient for winter skincare products. Many people, myself included, suffer from dryness and irritation due to winter weather, so I was able to justify buying the Superbox #56 Yogurt Cosmetics pretty easily.

first look

Here’s the official summary of this Memebox:

Yogurt is a yummy and wholesome snack, but when applied topically, you’ll see that this creamy wonder food  also has a multitude of beauty benefits!

Yogurt used as part of a beauty regimen dates back to ancient Egypt, when Cleopatra used it as a part of her daily beauty routine to maintain her youth. It contains lactic acid to dissolve dead skin cells that accumulate into the pores! Also, proteins, calcium, and vitamins prevent premature aging, brighten skin, and give the skin a naturally youthful glow!

Unlock this ancient beauty secret for your best self ever!

Whoever writes the sales copy for Memeboxes is damn good at their job, because I always end up thinking “well, that sounds like something that could definitely benefit my skin!” after almost every new box gets released. I mean, who doesn’t want youthful, glowing skin, right?

all out

So, just at a glance, we’ve got three different types of face mask, a cleanser, a moisturizer, and a lip balm set. I’m always happiest when my boxes are more skincare oriented – unless of course it’s a specifically makeup/haircare/whatever-themed box – so I’m pleased with this lineup.

Let’s get down to the unboxing – click the read more to see the individual products and my thoughts on each!

My Cute Wishlist 2 Memebox Review & Unboxing

Like so many people, one of my favorite things about Asian cosmetics is just how darn cute the packaging can be. Etude House, Tony Moly, Skinfood, It’s Skin’s Babyface line, and my personal favorite Holika Holika – tons of brands make their names with both products that are both adorable and high quality. Given how often “cute packaging” in Western cosmetics tends to mean “cheap, crappy drugstore products aimed at pre-teens”, it’s really awesome to have a way for adults with real skin and cosmetic concerns to still be able to indulge their more whimsical sides.

All that is to say, when My Cute Wishlist 2 popped up on the Memebox site? OF COURSE I grabbed it.

overview

Here’s the official description of this Memebox:

It’s Back! We spritzed, powdered, and puckered up our way through thousands of precious darlings to bring you a box that bubbles over with cuteness!

The second edition of our My Cute Wishlist Box is loaded with darling delights that have swoon-worthy signature cheeky Korean names and gosh-darn-cute packaging. From miniature beautifying trinkets to precious pouch portables, this box full of darling beauty finds will make you bubble over with giddiness.

I’d have to say that personally, I think this box did live up to its hype! It’s definitely the box that I was most pleased with simply based on initial appearances. Obviously, as I try out individual products from all the (too many) boxes that I’ve ordered, that could change a lot, so that’s why I’m emphasizing that this is currently my favorite box just based on superficial, first appearances.

unboxed

Ever since finding out about the It’s Skin Babyface line, I have been wanting… well, pretty much the entire line! I was so happy to see the trademark smiley-face-and-wings packaging looking at me from within this box! The product in the ice cream truck packaging and the happy pig box also stood out to me upon first look.

As per usual, if you want the itemized product list and my opinions on each, please click the read more!
